Choosing the best dog for you
-
Choosing a new dog is a HUGE decision and there is generally very little support for families in deciding what dog is best for them.
-
We offer calls at the beginning stage of the process, where you can ask us anything on what you are looking for in an ideal dog regarding breed, age, temperament, rescue vs adoption, etc and how your ideal dog might fit in with your life.
Some questions we can help with include:
-
Which breed suits you and your family best?
-
What are the pros and cons of each breed?
-
Should you rescue or buy from a breeder?
-
Would a puppy or an older dog be better?
-
Should I choose a show line or working line dog?
The first meeting -
Is this the right dog for you?
Once you have chosen a potential dog or litter, we can help you navigate what to look for when you meet them.
We can help with questions like:
-
What should you ask the breeder?
-
How should you choose between dogs if more than one is available.
-
In a litter, how should you choose the puppy that will be the best fit for you and your family?
-
What are red flags that you should watch out for?
We can also join you when you meet the dog (distance dependent) or offer a video call service where we can evaluate the dogs and let you know what we think or help you choose between litter mates.
Congratulations! You have chosen a new four-legged family member!
